Obie Trice Calls Out BET, Says Network Banned Music Over Eminem No-Shows

Former Shady Records artist Obie Trice has called out BET by accusing the urban network of blackballing his music in the past, after Eminem skipped their annual awards shows.

According to Trice, Em's publicized 2006 performance was set-up in order to get his records played again.

"I can only talk about my last album, Second Round's On Me. There was a lot of things going on with that record as far as promotion-wise and the marketing scheme of the record, and then a bunch of issues with MTV not playing my lead single with Akon, and that kind of hindered things -- we needed that video look," Trice explained in an interview. "BET wouldn't play the video because Eminem had missed the BET Awards three years in a row, so he had to shake hands with them, kiss and make up with them by going back to the BET Awards with Busta Rhymes that one year to fix that situation so we can get music played. So honestly, it's the push of the label, the push of the radio playing the music and just working the record. Some people work records, and if it ain't an instant hit they leave it alone. That's kind of like Interscope's format. You have other labels that work records for six months--they believe in this record, and they believe in that record. T.I. To Be Released To Halfway House

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, rapper T.I. will be moved to a halfway house after serving months in a federal prison in Arkansas. T.I. could be released to a halfway house as early as January

Rumors regarding T.I.’s move to a halfway house began circulating on the Internet Tuesday (December 15) and were confirmed by a prisons spokesperson.

“…it’s not uncommon for inmates to be placed in community corrections for the last portion of their confinement to help with his transition,” Bureau of Prisons spokesman Edmond Ross told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

T.I. was originally sentenced to serve a year and a day in prison, but he is expected to be released from prison custody on March 23, 2010.

The Atlanta rapper is currently serving time because of a sentence for illegal firearms possession and for possessing a gun as a convicted felon.

LL Cool J Denied Entry Into Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Hip Hop legend LL Cool J was not one of the artists selected for entry into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, it was announced recently.

Because LL's career began in 1984, this was the first year he was available to make the cut. He was joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kiss, Donna Summer and Laura Nyro as other acts who failed to make the cut as well.

Instead, The Stooges, ABBA and Genesis will be honored with entry into the Hall, which features only two Hip Hop acts: Grangmaster Flash and the Furious 5, and Run D.M.C. The latter was inducted last year.

This years entrants will be honored on March 15, 2010 in Waldorf Astoria in New York.

LL Cool J has been a tremendous figure in rap, known for his longevity - as well as being the early face of Def Jam. He was the first artist to sign to the storied rap label, and helped bring Hip Hop to the mainstream. The Queens native has released 12 albums (eight of which have gone platinum) and has been awarded two Grammys.

R&B singer Chris Brown has reportedly deleted his popular Twitter page after a month filled with rants and conspiracy theories about major retailers not stocking his album.

According to reports, Brown deleted the page Monday (December 14) evening.

Chris Brown is the latest artist to abandon the service completely, following the precedent set by Miley Cyrus and Lil Wayne. Brown's exit came after a week's worth of Twitter-based ranting about stores not stocking his new album Graffiti. Only a few hours after that revelation, Brown issued his finally tweet: "I wanna thank my fans for all the support," he wrote. "Goodbye!" The old address for his Twitter page now leads to the dreaded "Sorry, that page does not exist!" screen. (MTV)
