Working with famed artists such as Mariah Carey and dropping mixtape after mixtape has the hip hop culture ready for his highly amped up debut album The State Vs. Radric Davis, which is due out this upcoming Tuesday, December 8. One of the most highly anticipated rap albums of the year will see it's creator in prison at the time of its release, as Gucci was sentenced to 12 months in Fulton County Jail on November 12, 2009, for violating his probation. Not letting the state of Gucci's incarceration kill the buzz for the release of The State Vs. Radric Davis, iconic Philly DJ Diplo has announced that he will remix the highly successful Gucci mixtape series Cold War. The producer of M.I.A's '08 smash "Paper Planes" will blend in his creative mix of reggae, hip hop, electronic, and Brazilian carioca to the mixtape set. This is actually a good thing for Gucci. Fans of those genres of music that DJ Diplo caters to maybe aren't as big of fans of hip hop as the true hip hop fan is. By Diplo remixing Gucci's Cold War mixtape series, he is exposing fans of different genres who might not be so familiar with Gucci Mane. So in reality, the remixed mixtape is actually a great marketing tool for the release of Gucci's debut joint. Another great marketing tool will come in the "Free Gucci" t-shirt promotion campaign, which will be organized by Diplo and his label, Mad Decent, and Gucci Mane's 1017 Brick Squad label. Big ups to DJ Diplo for trying to help Gucci out while he's in a tough bind.
